October is here, the air is crisp, and the horror marathons are officially underway. Whether you're into psychological thrillers, jump scares, or slow-burning suspense, there's no better way to enjoy your favorite spooky movies than curled up under the covers with something cozy, soft, and just the right amount of terrifying.

We may run a luxury bedding company, but the Doze team is full of horror fans, and so we ranked our top 10 horror movies of the year. And, we’re sharing our picks with you, along with the coziest ways to watch them.

Before we get into the screams, let’s talk setup. The right environment turns a scary movie into a full experience.

  • Start with the base layer: our Doze fitted sheet hugs your mattress tight with breathable softness so you don’t shift the sheets while you're squirming mid-scare.
  • Next, the real MVP: our Quick-Change Duvet System makes it easy to switch between fall colors, fluff levels, or laundry-day backups, just in time for guests or binge nights. It’s also a breeze to wash it after you get spooked and spill all your popcorn on it.

THE LIST: Our Favorite Horror Movies of the Year

10. Companion

Companion is one of two on the list starring Sophie Thatcher, and also produced by Zach Cregger, who wrote and directed Barbarian, which was at the top of our favorites last year. This movie is like an episode of Black Mirror that has a slow, uncomfortable build to a crazy climax, and then you realize the story has just started. It’s a fun ride for horror or sci-fi fans.

Best watched with: Snow Percale Fitted Sheet - crisp, clean and sharp enough to match the tech-gone-wrong tension.

9. The Substance

One of the boldest movies in recent years. Stylish to the max, extremely gross, and genuinely unhinged. Digging in on toxic cultural obsession with beauty and youth, it quickly spirals out of control and ends in one of the most grotesque displays of chaos ever filmed.

Best watched with: Bamboo Eye Mask - so you can cover your eyes when things get gross. Eh, who are we kidding? Don’t look away.

8. Longlegs

Longlegs is pure anxiety in film-form. Nicholas Cage is absolutely unrecognizable as a serial killer being hunted by an FBI agent, played by Maika Monroe. Is this a cop drama? Thriller? Occult Horror? Ghost Story? Urban Legend? Everything from the visuals to the music sucks you in and doesn’t let you breathe for the entire runtime. When everything comes full-circle, your jaw will be on the floor.

Best watched with: Fog Percale Duvet Cover Set - still, eerie, and perfect for when you’re watching something that doesn’t let you breathe.

7. Abigail

This one is just pure fun. A crew of criminals kidnaps a mobster’s ballerina daughter, and all they have to do is watch her until they get the ransom. I won’t say more, but this is a full-on, laugh-out-loud horror comedy with an air of “you don’t know who you’re messing with.”

Best watched with: Moss Sateen Flat Sheet - Soft and campy, but ready to go off the rails.

6. Oddity

Oddity is fascinating. It came out of Ireland, made on an extremely low budget, but packs a punch that rivals some of the big-budget films. Focused on a blind medium who is trying to solve her sister’s murder, this one ticks a ton of scary, supernatural boxes. You will definitely think twice about accepting a gift after this one.

Best watched with: Snap Adapter Set - low budget and under-the-radar, but essential. Pair with any duvet cover set to use your own insert.

5. It’s What’s Inside

It’s What’s Inside is a locked-room whodunnit on acid. Part mystery, part horror, part therapy session, it is a crazy ride. Every twist you see coming, you stay intrigued, and every one you don’t, you are blown away.

Best watched with: Percale Sheet Set in Lake - all the layers, but still keeps you guessing with everything lurking under the surface.

4. Together

Speaking of therapy sessions, Together spills out relationship drama to a new level. Like The Substance, it is a body-horror film that takes a fascinating look at codependence throughout a brutally grotesque, gory, and terrifying 102 minutes.

Best watched with: Heavyweight Down Alternative Insert - heavy, warm, and built for emotional support.

3. Sinners

Sinners feels like one of the most well-executed, genre-bending films in a long time. It is part authentic period piece, part laugh-out-loud comedy, part family drama, part blues musical, and part monster movie. It has one of the most inventive and incredibly shot scenes in recent years, letting the music take you on a literal timeless journey. Plus, once the dominos start falling, it is a crazy roller coaster ride, but with an extremely satisfying ending.

Best watched with: Percale Moss Duvet Cover Set - moody and classic in a way that feels both soulful and slightly haunted.

2. Weapons

This one was a toss-up for the #1 spot this year. Also from Zach Cregger, this is probably the most straightforward story in the group, but it is broken up into pieces, jumping back in time to fill in the blanks for each character. Then, the pieces start clicking together in the most satisfying way possible. The visuals are simple but terrifying, and even once you understand the rules, even the things you saw coming will leave you balled up with anxiety as they unfold.

Best watched with: Doze Percale Duvet Bundle - all the pieces lock together like a perfect puzzle.

1. Heretic

Finally the number one horror movie of the year - Heretic. This was a smart, refreshing, and fascinating take on theology, in a way that feels incredibly grounded and well-researched, but sinister at every turn. Two Mormon missionaries pay a quick visit to a man’s home, and don’t realize until it is too late that they are locked in. The writing was sharp, and Hugh Grant delivers every line with a self-assured gravitas that induces panic with every word. Plus, expertly acted - with Sophie Thatcher’s reactions causing you to feel these moments as if you were locked in this house with them.

Best watched with: Dune Sateen Duvet Bundle - calm, composed and deceptively soft - all neatly zipped up.

At Doze, we’re all about making bedtime better, whether that means 8 hours of sleep, or 8 hours of spine-tingling horror binging. We hope our list helps you discover something new, or just create the perfect excuse to stay in bed a bit longer.
